So, I've been making cupcakes on an advanced level since my very first, and someone said to me, "you'd probably be able to master more better and recover from missteps faster if you mastered the basics." True, I don't yet know how to make a basic vanilla, but I make a mean Jalapeno Popper. SO... he was right.

Sunday I finally did it, but it paid off. I made a gorgeous, rich vanilla with a vanilla buttercream topped with pearls, followed by a vanilla and orange "Creamsicle" topped with swirled creamsicle buttercream. Both were yummy, but seriously - me? Plain vanilla? Not in my shop. Now that Creamsicle... that's a keeper.
